Dion Ross established Specialised Container Services in May 1990, as a single Depot service provider in Wellington, New Zealand. As demand for the service grew, the company developed it's geographic network to cater for the increasing requirements of shipping companies.
This growth resulted in a partnership with Grant Tregurtha in 1994 and the progressive development of the Specialised Group service scope. Their combination of operational, administrative and planning expertise has grown to a team of more than 300 highly skilled employees, based out of eleven Depot facilities in ten locations throughout New Zealand.
On 1 May 2023, Qube Holdings Ltd acquired a 50% shareholding of Pinnacle Corporation, creating an exciting opportunity for the two companies to establish a strong and dynamic presence in the New Zealand market. On 1 November 2023, Qube Holdings Ltd acquired the remaining 50% shareholding of Pinnacle Corporation.

The Specialised Group was the first fully conversant container maintenance and repair facility to develop an all-encompassing port-based presence in New Zealand. This development took place in Napier in 1993 and is now common practice throughout most regions of New Zealand, with Specialised Container Services providing the majority of port-based Depot operations.
The Specialised Group was the first Depot services provider to offer in-house refrigeration expertise. This specialisation enabled us to effectively streamline these two operations, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing costs for clients.
The Specialised Group instigated and designed the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) approved decontamination and wash process procedure for container Depots. This initiative enabled container Depots to effectively undertake the MPI decontamination process and remove the associated costs and delays of external intervention, while maintaining New Zealand's bio-security standards.
